Position Description:

The Director of Grassroots Soccer position at The St. James FC Virginia is a Part Time position that will report directly to the Director of Soccer/ Technical Director.  The Director of Grassroots Soccer will be responsible for all day to day soccer operations, program management, staff management and budget management across all Grassroots/ Recreational soccer locations.  The Director of Grassroots Soccer will be responsible for assisting in the curriculum development and implementation consistent with club standards as set by the Technical Director in support of all of our Grassroots coaches (paid and volunteer)

The St. James FC Virginia Soccer currently has 8 locations where we offer Grassroots Soccer programs for players 2-15.  Each location has a Site Coordinator that will report directly to the Director of Grassroots Soccer to ensure operational, programmatic and developmental execution for our programs.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Program Management:
  • The Grassroots Director will ensure that we continue to grow not only in each of our existing locations but also identifying and launching new locations within the market consistent with the growth strategy of TSJ FCV Soccer.
  • Ensure our Site Coordinators are scheduling and building out our grassroots teams and communicating teams and schedules within the defined time period each season.
  • Ensure that each site has the appropriate equipment needed and that all equipment is safe for use.  
  • Procurement of necessary equipment to execute all programs in advance of the start of the season.
  • Manage the Recreational All Star Program across all locations with support from the Site Coordinators
  • Conduct seasonal coaches meetings
  • Manage the issuing and collection of coaching gear and keeping an up to date inventory of equipment
• Marketing & Program Promotion
  • Work with leadership & marketing team to ensure that we are promoting grassroots programs through different verticals in the community to maximize exposure and participation within defined periods of the year.
  • Assist in marketing ancillary programs including camps and clinics programs to our Grassroots membership
• Player Identification:
  • Working with the Site Coordinators, the Director of Grassroots Soccer will support growth into the Pre-Travel program and Travel program by working with our U7-U12 Competitive Age Group Directors to identify talents players and move from grassroots program to competitive programming.
• Staff Management:
  • Manage all Site Coordinators and ensure that all grassroots programs have the appropriate number of coaches and volunteers needed
  • Work with Travel Directors of Coaching to identify volunteers from our High School age teams
  • Manage payroll for all grassroots programs employee with the Director of Soccer.
• Grassroots Education Program
  • Support volunteer coaches by developing weekly training session plans with our Site Coordinators that are age appropriate for our volunteer coaches
  • Work with Director of Soccer provide on field coach education opportunities for volunteers and grassroots coaches
  • Hold seasonal coaches training meetings with support from Director of Soccer and VYSA

Ideal candidate will have a minimum of a USSF C License

3-5 years of experience in Grassroots soccer 

Must be eligible to work in the United States
