Job description
Summary
Client is currently hiring for the position of construction estimator. The ideal candidate for this job would be someone with a background in heavy civil construction (i.e. grading, site utilities, site concrete, asphalt paving), primarily with an emphasis on preconstruction responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following
- Studying documentation, meeting with clients and inspecting the construction site to fully understand what work is required.
- Develops bids for construction projects. Including solicitation of key vendors and subcontractors.
- Following up on bids with clients and closing deals to contract.
- Works closely with general contractors, land developers, civil engineers, and other professionals.
- Navigates and understands land development codes for government agencies throughout the region.
Qualifications & Requirements
- The ideal candidate would have a bachelor's degree in a civil engineering field and/or construction management, but it is not a requirement.
- 5+ Years experience in the construction field preferred.
- Strong math skills including geometry, and basic arithmetic.
- Software skills in MS Excel, Bluebeam, Agtek, and MS Project are encouraged, but not mandatory.
- Ability to navigate specifications and plans.
- Proficiency in demonstrating proposals and projects.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments at once.
- Close attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
This is an immediate opening with the potential to start right away. This employee would be required to work in a local office environment. Primary area of work includes the greater Charlotte metropolitan area (+/- 60 mile radius).
