Job description

Responsibilities

The Utilization Review Clinician assists the UR Director in the daily functioning of the UR Department, as well as meeting the standards set forth by state and local regulatory bodies. The Utilization Review Clinician will maintain a productive, professional relationship with the medical staff, management team and all other departments. The UR Clinician performs other duties as assigned. The Utilization Review Clinician reports to the Director of Utilization Review.

Qualifications

Education: The educational requirements necessary to be a registered nurse or licensed social worker/therapist. Bachelors’ Degree in Nursing or Social Work from an accredited school is preferred.

Licensure: Current Ohio license as a registered nurse social worker or therapist.

Experience: One year of experience in a psychiatric inpatient setting is preferred.  Prior experience in the utilization review function is highly preferred. The ability to organize tasks related to the accomplishment of hospital goals and objectives.  Ability to work in a professional manner with physicians, mental health professionals, outside agencies, and support staff.

Additional Requirements :  Ability to work with child and adolescent populations as demonstrated through educational accomplishment or work experience. A working knowledge of JCAHO, ODMH, and any other applicable federal and state laws and regulations governing mental health care facilities relating to utilization review. Successful completion of CPR Certification and Physical Crisis Intervention (PCI).  May be required to work flexible hours.
