Job description
The College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University is now accepting applications for a Resident in Veterinary Radiation Oncology at the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center (LVMC). The LVMC offers specific training programs designed to prepare residents for active careers in academia or specialty practice and for certification by the appropriate specialty college. The residency employment terms are renewed annually within the three year program duration, contingent on available funding.
Residents will follow specific program guidelines in a residency Veterinary Radiation Oncology Residency program that has been approved by the American College of Veterinary Radiology and may rotate through various internal and external specialty areas specific to their programâs requirements. Residents are expected to provide backup duties in emergency cases, along with weekend and after-hours obligations. Residents participate in clinical rounds, morbidity and mortality and pathophysiology seminars, as well as various section and departmental academic programs. Attendance and participation in the seminar component of the training program is required by all residents.Â
DVM or equivalent degree
R egistration with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy in compliance with the Controlled Substances Registration Act will be required prior to clinical practice
Licensure by the State of Iowa Board of Veterinary Medicine upon employment start date
Completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery or practice equivalent.
C ompletion of a research project or research experience in veterinary oncology.
