RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to) - Shall perform medical technician duties and manage patient's needs as described in the (PD), identified by the Service Unit and as directed by Supervisor.
- Shall perform in accordance with the competency standards.
- Shall provide professional medical services or direct patient care services as follows:
- Perform moderate and high complexity analytical patient testing in all areas of the clinical Laboratory to include Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Serology, and Specimen preparation following internal Policies and Guidelines. - Perform phlebotomy on infants, children, adult, and geriatric patients using proper phlebotomy techniques.
- Perform quality control and preventative maintenance on laboratory analyzers as mandated by Pinon Health Center Laboratory Policies.
- Accession lab orders and result lab test in EHR/RPMS (LIS) ensuring completeness in data entry.
- Process reference Laboratory samples following internal Policies and specimen processing requirements of reference Laboratory.
- Capable of taking remedial action, when necessary, following policies and procedures regarding "Out of Control" quality control or analyzer problems.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS - Must be certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) or an equivalent MT, MLS, or CLS certification with appropriate training and a minimum of two years of experience. (MTs are not required to be board certified, only certified as an MT, MLS or CLS by the ASCP or AMT).
- Required to have a BS from an accredited college or university in medical laboratory science, medical technology, clinical laboratory, or related science.
- Must have a completion of medical technology, clinical practice program and have all licenses, permits, and certifications as required by law.
- Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a generalist.
- Must have proof of updated and complete vaccinations.
