Job description
LaSalle Network has partnered with a national leading distribution company who is seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk to join its growing team! They have been in business for over 60 years and specialize in providing high-quality products to their customers across various industries.
As the Accounts Payable Clerk, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the accounts payable process. The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, a keen eye for accuracy, and a passion for numbers. This is a full-time, in-person position based in Springfield, MO.
Accounts Payable Clerk Responsibilities:
Vendor invoice processing: accurately process and record vendor invoices, ensuring proper coding, matching with purchase orders and obtaining necessary approvals
Prepare and schedule payments to vendors through various methods such as checks, ACH transfers and wire transfers; verify payment details and maintain accurate payment records
Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and obtaining appropriate approvals
Reconcile vendor statements, identifying and resolving discrepancies or outstanding balances in a timely manner
Communicate with vendors regarding invoice discrepancies, payment inquiries and other accounts payable-related matters
Analyze vendor invoices and expenses to identify cost-saving opportunities and ensure accuracy in financial reporting
Assist in month-end closing activities, including accruals, reconciliations and journal entries related to accounts payable
Generate and analyze accounts payable reports, providing insights to management on vendor performance, payment trends and cash flow projections
Maintain organized and up-to-date records of all accounts payable transactions, including invoices, payments and correspondence; ensure compliance with company policies and legal regulations
Liaise with procurement, receiving and other departments to resolve invoice discrepancies, address payment issues and streamline accounts payable processes
Identify opportunities for process improvements in accounts payable procedures, such as automation, to increase efficiency and accuracy
Accounts Payable Clerk Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in accounting or related field is preferred
Previous experience in accounts payable or general accounting is desirable but not mandatory
Proficient in using accounting software and MS Office suite, particularly Excel
Strong numerical aptitude with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with vendors and internal stakeholders
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
Familiarity with basic accounting principles and understanding of financial processes
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve issues effectively
Ethical and trustworthy, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality
