The Data Science & Analytics group at the Goodyear Innovation Center in Akron does just that. Since its inception, the group’s project portfolio continues to grow in the areas of tire intelligence, tire manufacturing, operations and tire technology.

Our diverse group works together with other digital teams to develop innovative tools and methods for simulating, modeling and analyzing complex processes. The opportunity:

• Lead the effort to design, develop and maintain data pipelines related to various processes
• Work with tire engineers and product development teams to develop new data streams and enable data traceability 
• Coordinate development and support activities with the goal to keep our data lake ever-green
• In collaboration with our Data Architect, lead the implementation of a data governance framework
• Work closely with data scientists and data engineers to conduct data analytics and scale up platforms for diverse Big Data applications 
• Share and present your ideas and successes with IT professionals and business stakeholders throughout the company
• Develop an understanding of the business, the technology and the tire design processes
• Continuously enhance your knowledge about Data Engineering topics such as data systems, data sources, data quality, data storage, business reporting procedures and metrics.

To join our team you will need:

• Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science or similar field with 3+ years experience in data or system engineering OR Master's in Computer Science or similar field. 
• Strong experience working in a cross-functional environment supporting multiple areas of the business.

Skills & Qualifications: 

Demonstrated experience with: 

• Software engineering tools and practices (Python, Git, CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, automated testing)
• Data engineering tools and practices (ETL workflows, data governance) 
• Database and other data storage technologies  (SQL DDL/DML, NoSQL, Oracle, MySQL, S3, Athena, DynamoDB)
• System interfaces and interoperability (Message brokers, REST API, serialization protocols, networking basics, job scheduling, batch processing)
• Cloud platform technology (AWS or MS Azure)             
• System infrastructure in Linux/Windows (Bash, PowerShell, Docker, CRON, Apache Airflow)
• Must be able to function independently as well as work in a team-oriented environment.
• Ability to communicate well with stakeholders and end users from a wide range of technical backgrounds
• Willingness to teach others and learn new technologies
