Assistant professor, 12-month, non-tenure track faculty position to teach in the Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program in the John G. Rangos, Sr. School of Health Sciences (RSHS) at Duquesne University. In addition to the faculty appointment, interested candidates may also apply for the dual Department Chair of Athletic Training and MSAT Program Director role for the MSAT. The preferred start date is July 1, 2024. Salary is competitive and there is an additional stipend associated with the optional Department Chair and MSAT Program Director role.

This faculty line will constitute the fourth full-time faculty member in our nationally recognized program in Athletic Training. The individual filling this faculty position may also serve as the Department Chair and MSAT Program Director (based on qualifications and interest in this role). The MSAT program is in its inaugural year following 30 years of excellence in Athletic Training education at the Bachelor level where it boasts a 100 percent pass rate on the Board of Certification, Inc. exam. This incoming faculty member will primarily teach in the MSAT program based on their area(s) of expertise in complement to those of existing faculty. The RSHS and Department of Athletic Training provide a variety of opportunities related to professional mentoring, leadership, and collaborative teaching.

FACULTY MEMBER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The MSAT program has a framework featuring emphases at the individual, global, and person-centered care levels.

All faculty within this program are responsible for:

If selected for the Department Chair and MSAT Program Director role, additional functions and responsibilities include:

1)Department chair meeting attendance

2)Budget management

3)Personnel management and performance assessments

4)Advocating for the needs of the department and associated programs

5)Promotion of faculty development and professional and scholarly accomplishments

6)Program marketing and recruitment

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

The non-tenure track assistant professor position will receive supervision from the Department Chair, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, and Dean of the RSHS.

The individual serving as the Department Chair and MSAT Program Director will receive supervision from the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Dean of the RSHS.
