Minimum Qualifications Qualifications
High School Diploma, or General Equivalency Degree (G.E.D.), and five years of specialized administrative support experience; or three years of financial services experience. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field may substitute for years of experience.
Knowledge/Skills
- Experienced in managing office activities.
- Interested in finance and able to develop and maintain an understanding of basic financial concepts and transactions.
- Highly proficient in written and verbal communications, with strong grammar, vocabulary, and composition skills.
- Proficient with spreadsheet software including Excel; experience with database software and internet research tools and techniques.
- Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe, and able to create and modify documents and templates, and to import/export materials in conjunction with document development.
- Detail-oriented, possessing strong organizational skills, initiative, and self-motivation, and capable of performing tasks with a high degree of accuracy within prescribed deadlines.
- Able to maintain confidentiality and discretion as a rule. Candidate must possess good judgment, an ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and to learn new matters.
- Able to develop and maintain common office filing systems and processes and adhere to departmental policies.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently with clear deadlines.
Duties Description Position Description
The Debt Service Specialist is responsible for providing debt service support to the Corporation and client organizations, to include preparing monthly bills, tracking payments, reviewing documents and various other loan-related duties.
Essential Job Functions - Generates, distributes, and tracks monthly bills and payments for various programs and contacts clients regarding outstanding payments.
- Accesses database to enter and track payments received from clients for various programs, confirms correct payment has been posted, and returns retired debt instruments to issuers.
- Reviews daily deposits and withdrawals at the bank and verifies any questionable information.
- Prepares various correspondence relating to the payment process and contacts municipalities, State agencies, and/or businesses when payments are not received on time.
- Assists in processing financial transactions, as needed.
Working Conditions and Physical Abilities
Work is performed in an office setting, with prolonged periods of sitting and fine manipulation skills required for computer use. This position requires a professional demeanor and an orientation towards customer service
