As the Fabrication Operations Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of our four steel fabrication facilities. You will have the opportunity to manage and lead a diverse team consisting of production supervisors, quality control inspectors, fitters, welders, machinists, and support staff. By developing and implementing strategic plans, you will optimize our manufacturing processes and ensure that production targets are met efficiently.
In collaboration with other departments, such as sales and logistics, you will facilitate seamless coordination across the organization. Your keen attention to detail and commitment to safety will be essential in monitoring and enforcing safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment for all employees. Additionally, you will maintain a fabrication schedule for all shop operations and foster a culture of continuous improvement and employee development within the fabrication team.
Your role will also involve collaborating with the Shop Teams and General Manager to improve fabrication techniques and streamline production workflows. By implementing cost-effective measures, you will enhance operational efficiency without compromising the quality of our products. Collaboration with the Quality Control Manager is crucial to conduct regular inspections, ensuring high standards of product excellence.
As the Fabrication Operations Manager, you will play a critical role in coordinating with procurement to ensure a timely availability of raw materials and effective inventory management. You will monitor production costs and provide assistance to the Project Management Team with work in process cost projections. Evaluation of project budgets and production costs will allow you to provide valuable feedback to the General Manager and Estimating Manager.
Additionally, you will be responsible for documenting and maintaining correspondence between all parties to ensure a thorough and organized paper trail. Lastly, you will issue corrective action notices to employees within the fabrication operation, when necessary, to enforce company and/or project guidelines and policies related to safety, HR, QA/QC, attendance, and production. To succeed in the role of Fabrication Operations Manager, the following skills and qualifications are necessary: Proven experience in a managerial role within a steel fabrication or manufacturing environment, with a strong knowledge of fabrication processes, equipment, and industry standards. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and guide teams. Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Proficiency in project management and organizational skills. Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and best practices. Results-oriented mindset, with a focus on achieving production goals. Adaptability to changing industry trends and technologies. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with preferred experience in scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera. Knowledge of Tekla PowerFab is a plus, but not required. Familiarity with welders, gas supplied equipment, rigging and components. Possession and maintenance of a current valid driver's license, as travel to various fabrication shops is part of the responsibility.
Ability to work a minimum of a fifty (50) hour work week, with additional work and weekend availability as necessary to effectively manage the fabrication operations. Travel to these locations may be required, including occasional overnight stays to effectively manage and resolve any current or ongoing issues.
As the Fabrication Operations Manager, you will utilize these skills to drive success and ensure the smooth operation of our fabrication facilities. This exciting position is based in York, PA, with three shop operations located in York, PA and one in Richmond, VA.
