Job Summary:

The U.S. equity trading team is a market leading, award winning platform responsible for executing $380bn in AUM.  The team is seeking a talented individual to join as an equity trader.  The role will report into the Head of Active Equity Trading, but the individual will work with the portfolio managers, traders and other partners across multiple, global locations.  

Job Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with active traders to understand block trading environment and coverage responsibilities.
• Develop strong understanding of Emerging Markets, Convertible Bond, ECM and Derivatives trading, market structure and regulatory responsibilities.
• Work with the Global Trading Team and technology partners to enhance a global trading platform and help innovate in order to support an analytical trading process.
• Collaborate with portfolio managers and traders to identify opportunities to reduce trading and implementation costs.
• Strategically manage and ensure efficient execution as an integral part of the investment process
• Provide an effective and collaborative liaison between the Front Office and various supporting functions (e.g. Operations, Technology, Compliance, Risk, Audit, HR) to manage both the day to day trading operations, and to drive and implement change
• Establish credibility throughout the organization and set an example as a proactive leader who earns respect by demonstrating a sound understanding of business results, leadership and teamwork.
• Stay abreast of ‘best practice’ at peer firms.
• Demonstrate a clear focus on controls to mitigate operating risk in the trading environment

Required qualifications, skills and attributes:

• Undergraduate degree in Finance, Math or Computer Science.  Graduate degree (Finance, Math or Computer Science ) or CFA is preferred
• 1-3 years of equity trading experience or working closely with a large buy side trading desk
• Good understanding of how the equity markets function including familiarity with market microstructure
• Intellectually curious in trading and technology with a passion for the equity trading marketplace
• General knowledge of a buy-side Equity trading operation.  
• Ability to enhance trading capabilities
• Strength in working and leveraging technology to drive innovation
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and debate in a collaborative way
• Experience in working in a global organization
• Self-starter with the ability to think creatively and laterally
• Strong focus and attention to detail
