Job description
The Increasing Diversity in Environmental Careers (IDEC) program is a strategic partnership between the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (MDNR), Conservation Corps Minnesota and Iowa (CCMI), Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), and the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources (MBWSR). The IDEC program is one strategy developed by the state to tap into Minnesota’s diverse labor market. In addition to fostering the next generation of innovative environmental, natural resource, and conservation professionals, the IDEC program is committed to increasing access to outdoor recreation opportunities and promoting diversity amongst outdoor enthusiasts. 2024 Summer Rotational Internship - Cohort 5A The IDEC program is offering a 10-week paid summer Rotational Internship for underrepresented college students (BIPOC, women, and/or individuals with disabilities). Those applying should be interested in learning about environmental and natural resource careers at the state level. Applicants do not need to be pursuing a STEM degree.
The IDEC program has currently adopted a hybrid model – which includes virtual days, in-person activities, and field trips. Most in-person activities and field trips take place in the Twin Cities metro area. In an effort to reduce transportation barriers for IDEC Fellows, the program offers travel accommodations to those living in Greater Minnesota.
*Cohort 5A is unique because it offers a one-time summer Rotational Learning Experience. Students interested in continuing to advance through the IDEC program and explore the additional benefits (including mentorship opportunities, multiple internships, and academic scholarships) may apply for Cohort 5B at the end of the summer. - Hourly Pay Rate – $17.00/hour (35 to 40 hours per week)

Participation Requirements: If accepted into the IDEC program, students are expected to:
- Commit to completing the 10-week summer Rotational Internship.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and evaluation surveys.
Program Qualifications: To be considered for participation in the IDEC program, the following requirements must be met:
- Accepted to or currently enrolled in a 2 or 4-year fulltime undergraduate program at an accredited state, community, private, or tribal college or university in Minnesota.
- Provide proof of enrollment and a copy of your unofficial transcript.
- Submit a copy of your most recent resume.
- Completed undergraduate freshmen year by May 31, 2024.
- Interested in learning about natural resources and environmental careers.
- Be legally authorized to work in the United States.
