Job description

Industrial Fabrication Services (IFS) in Lake Crystal, Minnesota is a custom metal fabrication facility that builds metal components for many bulk material-handling industries. Currently IFS employs about 100 people in a 75,000 square foot facility. IFS is located 12 miles southwest of Mankato, Minnesota, just off Highway 60, in the Lake Crystal Industrial Park. From this location IFS ships products throughout the continental USA, Canada, Mexico, and worldwide. IFS works primarily with general contractors, custom equipment manufacturers, mining companies, agricultural processors, and power generation facilities.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Although the Essential Functions and Qualifications of this job description apply mostly towards experienced metal fabricators, we are also looking for entry-level metal fabricators to join our team. Experience in a metal fabrication environment is favored, but regardless of experience, specific training on all machines will be provided. You will operate appropriate equipment that cut, bend, and roll metal. Must be competent in using potentially dangerous equipment and follow all safety procedures. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a good attitude and great attention to detail. Knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties is essential.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Setup and operate metal fabricating machines such as saws, roll former, press breaks, welding machines, plasma table, and/or the drill line

2. Inspect or measure work using rule, gauges, calipers, and templates for quality purposes

3. Complete jobs in a timely fashion according to production schedule

4. Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures

5. Determine the appropriate equipment or method based on requirements

6. Set up components for fabrication according to specifications

7. Align components using tape measure, rulers etc. and clamp pieces

8. Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety

9. Other duties as assigned by supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Proven experience as a metal fabricator

2. Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.)

3. Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings

4. Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use personal protective equipment

5. Dexterity and attention to detail

6. Proficient in English

7. Professional Certification and/or training will be a plus

8. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test/physical
