Position Summary

Performs highly skilled tasks to install, repair and maintain all electrical equipment, lighting, service utilities and related structures. This position works on a 12 hour night shift rotation. 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Performs highly skilled electrical maintenance tasks. This includes but is not limited to the following:

• As duties permit, and as assigned, performs other less skilled electrical maintenance duties:

• Informs Instrument/Electric Service Coordinator of problems encountered during repairs and construction, PLC structuring, PLC programming, troubleshooting, instrument calibration, communications, milling equipment operation, and electrical safety procedures.
• Provides leadership and On-the-Job (OTJ) training for B or C Electricians.
• Employees must learn and observe all applicable company policies and safe practices and perform all duties assigned by supervisor. This description covers the significant duties of the job but may not include occasional assignments which would be within the evaluation of this job.
• Knowledgeable of the ISO quality system as required to ensure compliance to the ISO 9001 quality standard.

 

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Technical school a plus.
• Minimum of 3 to 5 years industrial experience or technical school equivalent or a combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of electricity and electrical theory; electrical construction and troubleshooting PLC ladder logic and PLC programming. Must have the ability to read and interpret the National Electric Code.
• Position requires previous training through an accredited apprenticeship program or through formal training programs such as a vocational or technical school, or company-sponsored programs. Some evidence of electrical safety and electrical practice experience is mandatory.
• Willing and able to work and act safely (laboratory and plant practices).
• Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations that include the following: multiplication, addition, and percentages – all of which can be accomplished with the use of a calculator if needed.
• Fabrication and welding experience preferred. 
• Knowledge of blowers, diverters, baghouses and other pneumatic equipment preferred.
• Must have good overall communication skills with employees at all levels of the organization.
• Must be able to read and comprehend company safety manual policies, operating procedures, SDS, and various production schedules/reports.
• Must be able to lift and move 50 lbs occasionally, must be able to ascend and descend ladders, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and crawl. Must be able to work in a dusty environment where temperatures vary from extremely holt to cold, work in humidity and around various chemicals.

 

Physical Requirements

Works in all inside and outside areas of the plant, and is often exposed to heat, cold, inclement weather, crushed and ground limestone spillage and dirty working conditions. Employs a thorough knowledge of each unique mill unit and its operation, material flow, and related electrical equipment. Works from general verbal and written instructions with a full knowledge of electric hand tools, portable power tools and electrical test instruments.
