Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit As the largest unit on campus, the College of Arts & Sciences forms the academic core of the Carolina experience. The Arts and Sciences Foundation strives to enhance the College of Arts and Sciences by meeting the needs of the various academic departments, promoting teaching, research and service, and supporting the continuing development of knowledge and learning. Position Summary The Arts and Sciences Foundation seeks a full-time public communications specialist to join a robust donor relations team that supports stewardship and development communications activities for the College of Arts and Sciences. Reporting to the Director of Donor Relations and Compliance, the Public Communications Specialist will be responsible for writing and editing a significant volume of custom reports and acknowledgment letters for donors, as well as materials for College and Foundation publications. The position requires frequent interaction via email, phone and in-person with donors and colleagues across the College's 43 departments, to obtain information needed for donor reports. It also requires a high level of production, the ability to extract data from a specialized database, attention to detail, and an appreciation of the role of private support at a public university. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
