Job description

Analytical Food Laboratories ( AFL ), part of Tentamus Group , is seeking a Chemistry Operations Manager to direct and lead the daily operations of the chemistry laboratory (personnel, technical oversight, workflow, and budget).

Keeping People Safe Since 1992 . AFL is a full-service accredited lab providing crucial food quality and safety analysis for local and global clients. Famous restaurants rely on AFL's testing before their products hit the dinner table. We use proven methods of chemistry, microbiology, sensory studies and more performed at our 22,000 sq. ft high-tech Grand Prairie facility. How you will contribute:

• Provide general supervision and administrative support for the chemistry laboratory (technical direction, compliance with regulatory requirements, assist with client relations, personnel relations & competency/training records).
• Ensure the chemistry department is compliant with current regulations including ISO/IEC 17025, NELAC, cGMP, cGLP, and all other accrediting and certifying agencies.
• Manage staff work schedules and coverage. Provide technical guidance and leadership. Oversee staff development: hiring, training, reviews, goal setting and scheduling. Adjust workflow as required.
• Conduct regular departmental staff meetings. Disseminate corporate and departmental information to staff as appropriate.

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry/biochemistry or related field with extensive analytical experience will be considered.
• 5 years' experience managing a chemistry laboratory.
• Experience in a commercial food, pharmaceutical, or dietary supplement testing laboratory preferred.
• Knowledgeable in instrumentational chemistry (HPLC, GC, ICP, LCMS, UV-VIS, AA, etc.)
