Job description
The Westchester County Department of Public Works and Transportation is seeking Contract Administrators (Construction Coordinators) to oversee county-wide Service Agreement Contracts and Construction Contracts for various types of County projects including roads, bridges, buildings and recreation facilities.
Under general supervision, the incumbent will oversee the construction contract bidding process which includes writing bid specifications, reviewing bid documents, advertising, maintaining standard contract documents.
The incumbent may also oversee bidding and management of service contractors such as maintenance of HVAC and fire protection systems. Work includes writing bid specifications, advertising, responding to service issues, reviewing invoices, and coordinating needs and services with County departments.
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Either: (a) A Bachelor’s Degree* in Engineering or Engineering Technology or a closely related field and 3 years of experience coordinating construction projects which must have involved a minimum of three of the following trades: carpentry, electrical, heating and ventilation, masonry, plumbing, steel, or concrete construction; or (b) a Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of experience as stated in (a);
*SPECIAL NOTE: Education beyond the secondary level must be from an institution recognized or accredited by the Board of Regents of the New York Stated Department of Education as a post-secondary, degree-granting institution.
This is a Civil Service position that will require the successful candidate to be appointed from a list of eligible candidates, following examination.
