The Communications Assistant performs a wide variety of tasks within MEMIC’s corporate communications department. This person will be expected to support the development and implementation of tactical communications solutions for the company’s many stakeholders. The incumbent will be expected to deliver a high level of customer service while collaborating with teammates in the areas of Marketing, Corporate Communications, Event Planning, Corporate Giving, and Strategy.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance with writing, editing and designing for publication brochures, educational material, advertisements, marketing presentations and other print and electronic collateral for the company and its subsidiaries.
- Develop and distribute content for company’s corporate website as well as its intranet.
- Perform communications department administrative functions.
- Assist in releasing information to media and other stakeholders such as insurance agents.
- Assist in execution of advertising, public relations and other related campaigns.
- Assist in event planning, including working with vendors, event coordinators and internal business partners. Represent the company at business events and provide day of support to Corporate Event Planner.
Requirements:
- Able to work in a collaborative environment and is highly-motivated, self-directed, enthusiastic and possesses a positive attitude.
- Excellent judgement, organizational, decision making, time management, and customer service skills required.
- Strong business writing and verbal communication skills are a must.
- Experience in a corporate or agency setting preferred.
- Working knowledge of business and graphic design programs including: Microsoft Excel and Word, Adobe CS (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) and experience with Web-authoring software is a plus.
Working Conditions:
- Normal office environment with minimal exposure to excessive noise and temperature variations.
- Willingness to travel among company sites as needed and attend company events.
- Will be required to stand and/or sit for extended periods.
- Will be required to work with a Video Display Terminal.
- May be required to do occasional reaching and bending.
- May be required to occasionally exert physical effort (lifting/carrying) using appropriate equipment if needed.
- Full-time required.
