Job description
School Counselor
Requirements:
- Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) OR Associates MFT License
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Associate Clinical Social Worker
- Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPS)
- Experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum preferred
Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling to students with autism, focusing on social skills development, emotional regulation, and self-advocacy.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other support staff to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students' unique needs.
- Support students in navigating social interactions and building meaningful relationships with peers.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to monitor students' progress and adjust interventions as needed.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress and develop comprehensive intervention strategies.
- Provide crisis intervention and support as needed to students and families.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of autism spectrum disorders and evidence-based interventions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
