Summary: The Pharmacy Compounding Specialist is responsible for the preparation of customized medication formulations when commercially available drugs do not suit the patients’ needs. The formulations may include but are not limited to, capsules, creams, ointments, and solutions or suspensions. This pharmacy technician will prepare non-sterile compounded medications in the outpatient pharmacy at PharmaCare Auburn with travel to Allen County for compounding of hazardous medications two to three times per week. This technician will also staff in daily workflow on an as-needed basis.

Education: High school graduate or equivalent GED required. Successful completion or enrollment in Indiana Board of Pharmacy approved Pharmacy Technician Training program, within one year of employment. Successful completion of high school Algebra course required. Successful completion of clerical and science courses preferred. Computer classes and experience desired.

Licensure/Certification: Must have or be eligible for an Indiana Board of Pharmacy Tech in Training license or a current State Board of Indiana license as a Pharmacy Technician or Intern.

Experience: Essential qualifications include math and measurement skills, great attention to detail, third-party billing, problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, effective communication skills, record-keeping, and technology proficiency. Candidates must be able to work both independently and in team settings with excellent time management and organization skills. One year pharmacy experience and/or pharmacy technician oriented formal class work required.
