Internal Job Number: P07734UF Description: The Department of Animal & Rangeland Sciences invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, fixed-term Instructor position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Department Head. Appointment at the Instructor rank is anticipated; however, higher rank may be considered depending upon the qualifications of the successful candidate. The mission of the Department of Animal and Rangeland Sciences is to serve current and future communities through education, research, and outreach by providing science-based animal and rangeland information. Our vision is ecologically, socially, and economically resilient communities and healthy landscapes in synergy with humans, animals, and rangelands for current and future generations. This position provides instruction in courses related to meat science and technology. This position will also develop and provide food safety trainings, including HACCP , create new courses related small and very small meat processor plant needs, create new educational content for the Niche Meat Processors Assistance Network ( NMPAN ), as well as provide direct consultation with new and established meat processors in Oregon and surrounding states. The person in this position will also provide support in carcass, meat, and, meat related research, and meats processing. Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty): Typically requires Master's degree in discipline appropriate to the field of teaching/instructional tasks. Requirements : Master of Science degree in Animal Science, Food Science, or a closely related field. Demonstrable knowledge and experience in meat science, processing, and food safety. Experience in teaching and outreach. Experience in planning and implementing research projects. Demonstrated ability to function as part of a team. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through writing and speaking. Commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. Must have demonstrable experience in this area. This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030. This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months. Type: Non-standard hours and travel as necessary to accommodate outreach programming. Approximately 10% of the time will be travel. Hot and cold temperatures in the working environment. May be exposed to high noise levels. Works with biological agents and other chemicals.
