Hematology Lab Technician

Job description
Yoh is seeking a Hematology Technician for our Research client here in St. Louis, MO. This individual will be performing various diagnostic laboratory procedures, including necropsy prosection, blood, microbiological, and other sample collection. The chosen candidate will need to be skill in hematology (including differential counts). This position will also assist with technical aspects of studies and experiments, including documentation and preparation of materials.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and set-up and maintenance of equipment.
- Collects samples to support investigator projects and/or the DCM rodent sentinel program.
- Prepares tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, etc.
- Performs data entry and maintains data files.
- Assists with general supply/equipment orders, lab maintenance and cleaning in accordance with established policies and regulations.
- Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
- Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures.
- Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications - Proven experience as a Lab or Research Technician or other relevant position (preferably with experience handling animal or human biological samples and experience in microbiology).
- Microbiology, hematology, clinical chemistry, or histotechnology experience desired.
- Ability to comprehend and follow SOPs and written instructions from veterinary, supervisory, and research staff.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate with laboratory staff and investigators.
- Ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports.
- Working knowledge of computer software and general lab equipment.
- A conscientious attitude and concern for quality and animal welfare.
