SUMMARY: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Technician or Engineer specializing in custom robotics prototype equipment to join our dynamic team. This individual will play a crucial role in commissioning, operating, diagnosing, and troubleshooting our prototype agricultural unmanned aerial systems (UAS). They will be responsible for identifying and working with onsite and remote resources to resolve downtime issues and ensure the smooth functioning of our UAS in the field while improving mean time between failure, mean time to repair and lowering the bar on issue identification. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in robotics, clear experience with custom, complex mechatronics equipment and a passion for innovation and problem solving.
What You'll do: - Diagnose Root Cause Downtime Issues: Quickly identify and address any operational issues with prototype robots, using advanced troubleshooting skills to determine root causes and implement effective reliable solutions. Issues may span hardware, software, and electrical.
- Documentation Management: Create, update, and maintain comprehensive build and process documentation, ensuring that all procedures and modifications are accurately recorded for reference and compliance purposes.
- Operations Support: Collaborate closely with the operations team to ensure that prototype UAS are maintained in a state of readiness and can perform as needed. Provide technical support and guidance to operational staff.
- Prototype Development and Improvement: Actively participate in the development and improvement of prototype UAS, applying innovative solutions to enhance functionality and efficiency.
- Coordinate and Communicate Troubleshooting: Coordinate with remote based engineering and build team to communicate troubleshooting plan, questions, and timelines.
- Training and Mentorship: Provide training and mentorship to junior technicians and engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices in robotics technology and maintenance.
- Communicate engineering improvement needs and opportunities from learnings while working with operations in the field.
To Be Successful You Will Have: - Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a robotics engineering field, with a focus on prototype development and software, firmware, and hardware troubleshooting
- Strong understanding of robotic systems, including mechanical, electrical, and software components
- Proficiency in technical documentation and process development
- Experience with aftermarket support documentation, both creation and maintenance
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with different departments.
- Strong organizational skills and incredible attention to detail
- Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies and methods.
