TIME FRAME: This is a short term, event day only position.
April 24 - May 5, 2024
POSITION SUMMARY: Serve as liaison and customer service representative with Big Chief, Grand Marshal and/or Krewe of Jazz Fest customers at check-in areas, hospitality areas, and stage viewing areas. Hosts provide festival information to customers, accept customer comments, oversee and manage a Big Chief or Grand Marshal area, and work to resolve customer complaints.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Hours: 9:00 am to 8 pm on all eight festival days. There is a mandatory full-day training session and production prep on Thursday, April 24th.
- Duties may include: Serve as customer service representative at check-in areas; serve as VIP hospitality area host or as viewing stand host as assigned. Big Chief Hosts may be assigned to different duty posts from day to day and may be assigned to relieve or augment staff as determined by the Big Chief Coordinator or Assistant Coordinator.
- Provide customers who have pre-paid with proper credentials and information to help ensure their positive experience of the Festival and VIP areas.
- Answer customers’ questions and comments in a friendly and helpful way.
- Hospitality area hosts will report clean-up needs or refreshment refills to appropriate staff. Big Chief/Grand Marshal/Krewe gate hosts will work with ticket, parking and event staff to resolve any discrepancies. Stage viewing stand staff will enforce admission policies, work with stage clean-up personnel and coordinate with beverage service staff to ensure that we are providing the proper service for our customers. Stage viewing area staff will work with staff to keep area clean, enforce admission policies, resolve problems, and provide proper service for customers.
- At the beginning of each day, make sure area is clean, safe, well-stocked, etc. Keep designated area tidy throughout the day. At the end of each day, make sure area and items needed for area are cleaned up and replenished.
- Report questions, concerns and suggestions for improvement to supervisor promptly.
- Complete training on April 24h, 2024, and assist with advanced preparations of Big Chief, Grand Marshal and Krewe areas.
- Participate in a short staff meeting at the end of each day, and a debriefing meeting at the close of each weekend of the festival, with the aim of improving our customer service.
REQUIREMENTS:
- It is the responsibility of each employee and their supervisor to accurately report their absenteeism
- Must maintain confidentiality regarding program participation and any sensitive issues
- May not post on Social Media about any aspects of the position
- Any document, computer program, design, or other intellectual property created for the Jazz Festival belongs to the Jazz Festival and must be given to the Festival through your supervisor or departmental head at the end of each production year, or upon request.
- Must complete all required Feedback/Evaluation Forms and Final Reports.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
High school education required. Customer service experience preferred. Must be friendly, personable, solution-oriented. Must take initiative, be a problem-solver. Must have experience working with the public, especially in high-stress situations. Must work outside in all weather conditions, with ability to stand for long periods.
