Job description

First Baptist Quincy is searching for a part-time Director of Music. The primary responsibility for this position will be to provide leadership to our church’s music ministry. We desire a blended selection of songs, both contemporary and traditional, with a focus on congregational singing.

Specific responsibilities for this position include:

• Work with the senior pastor to plan song selections for the Sunday morning service.
• Lead the congregation in congregational singing on Sunday mornings and as needed on other occasions (as your schedule permits).
• Secure and distribute the necessary sheet music for musicians and singers.
• Coordinate with praise team(s) concerning practice schedules and participation in worship services.
• Work with our audio/visual team to ensure that the audio/visual components of the worship service work properly and complement the music.
• Be a team player who is willing to work with others to accomplish the overall mission of our church.

The historic town of Quincy is located about 20 miles west of Tallahassee and Florida State University. This position reports to the Pastor and will receive assistance from our music committee as needed. We recognize that this is a part-time position, so we will be sensitive to your weekly schedule. The candidate must be an active follower of Jesus Christ who is consistent in the practice of spiritual disciplines such as prayer and Bible reading (John 15:4-5), as well as demonstrating a strong moral, ethical, and Christian character consistent with 1 Timothy 3:1-7. This individual must be able, with a clear conscience, to affirm the doctrinal statements presented in the Baptist Faith & Message (2000).
