Job description
Duties
- Utilize GIS (ESRI stack primarily) and associated software to produce, display, and analyze geographic information
- Develop and maintain feature datasets including branch versioned data and hosted feature services
- Perform quality assurance of GIS data using established workflows and processes
- Analyze geospatial data to meet business needs and requirements, perform recommendations for analysis
- Create, organize, manipulate, and retrieve GIS data for reporting, analysis, and presentation purposes
- Create and edit static and dynamic products and services, such as static map products, web maps, webapps, and other interfaces
- Communicate technical subjects to both management and end users in a clear manner
- Develop, edit, and troubleshoot large geodatabases used by mapping tools, applications, and interfaces
- Follow industry trends in data management and analysis, tools, modeling, and technological advances, provide recommendations for use of new tools, techniques, and adoption of new processes
- Perform monthly task reporting for products produced, data edited, etc.
- Perform spatial analysis including buffers, trimming, vertex editing, and more
- Create and manipulate 3D models using ArcGIS products such as model builder
- Automate redundant GIS processes to implement workflows and modeling techniques, identify patterns and recommend processes for automation
- Use satellite data to classify land cover and identify data discrepancies
- Perform field data collection as needed; assist with field data collection
- Provide technical documentation of processes, train others on use of GIS and tools, brief other teams and leadership as needed
- Creates Story Maps and other online interfaces to support dissemination of GIS information to personnel
- Create subject matter and lead outreach events at supporting site for onsite and remote personnel
- Reports to the Program Manager
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Environmental Science, Geography, or related field with demonstrated GIS training or coursework (sufficient experience may be substituted)
- Minimum of 3 years experience as a GIS Analyst working with ESRI product suite
- Experience in an Enterprise environment (as opposed to AGOL only) using branch versioning and hosted feature services strongly preferred
- ArcGIS Pro software experience in various domains (i.e. utilities, environmental, commercial, etc.)
- Understanding of GIS foundational principals and methods
- Knowledge of FGDC and/ or SDSFIE standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills with customer focus
- ArcGIS Online and Web Application capabilities desired
- Experience working with geographically dispersed team
- Experience working with Federal government agencies desired
