Purpose: This individual holding this position performs Human Resource Generalist responsibilities at Berry Global Headquarters located in Evansville, Indiana. This position is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and working closely with senior leadership in supporting corporate functions and providing HR leadership and support to the divisional HR team. The Human Resources Generalist carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, performance management, recruitment, onboarding & orientation, policy implementation, affirmative action, employment law compliance and payroll.
- Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt corporate personnel; conducts new-employee orientations
- Approves adjustments to bi-weekly payroll for hourly, salary non-exempt and salary workforce
- Handles employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, stay interviews, as well as exit interviews
- Works with divisional human resources teams on various HR & engagement initiatives
- Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals
- Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed
- Serves as a primary point of contact for specific corporate functions and assists with employee relations issues, questions, and concerns
- Responsible for communicating important company messages to the corporate employee population
- Improves manager and employee performance by facilitation, conflict resolution and providing feedback and coaching to employees and leadership as appropriate
- Builds relationships with staff at all levels of the organization
- Manages disability and leave of absence processes with employees for FMLA, STD and LTD while ensuring adherence to ADA and HIPAA.
- Maintains, updates and ensures accuracy of information in HRIS (Infinium and Oracle HCM)
- Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment
- Completes special projects as established by clarifying project objective, setting timetables and developing and organizing information and fulfilling transactions
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business Administration
- Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated Human Resources/employee relations experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment
- PHR or SHRM-CP Certification preferred but not required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to convey information effectively in one-on-one settings and in large group forums
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities along with strong time management and prioritization skills
- Excellent people skills
- Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously
- Must be familiar with employment law and standard HR concepts, practices and procedures, along with proven ability to apply that knowledge
- Intermediate proficiency in conflict resolution and project management and completion.
- Must possess ability to maintain confidentiality, have a strong work ethic, and be self-motivated
