Accountabilities

This position reports to Manager, Operations—MO Water. Jackson, MO is the preferred location but, will consider other qualified candidates in Missouri. The Field Supervisor leads, plans, organizes and coordinates service and construction activities for residential, commercial and industrial customers on transmission and distribution systems and facilities, as applicable in accordance with Company, regulatory and safety procedures. Provides general guidance and training of support personnel.
Primary Responsibilities
• Have a working knowledge of compliance requirements and schedule personnel to meet the compliance requirements and timelines.
• Responds to customer requests for service including, but not limited to, connections, disconnections, and leak investigations.
• Assist Operations Manager each month with the scorecard number.
• Responds to customer inquiries and complaints involving areas of responsibility to ensure a high level of customer service and satisfaction is maintained.
• Coordinates activities with regard to emergencies, outages and problems.
• Investigates code compliance, inactive meters, high bill and complaints.
• Reports and recommends resolution of dangerous conditions and/or damage in the service area.
• Initiates and supervises service and/or construction orders per O&M Manual for new main/Services construction, main/Service replacements, Leak repair and meter sets/Replacements etc.
• Work with Manager of Water, Business and Community Development plus be a representative for the Company to government agencies, city officials and public and industrial foundations in building and encouraging community relations.
• Assists area developers, contractors and other utilities in the location of water and wastewater lines, scheduling and/or development of local activities.
• Is sought out and/or assigned to provide leadership, expert advice, training, technical assistance to support personnel.
• Takes the lead in effectively applying new technology and skills to accomplish tasks and may teach them to others.
• Acts as a resource for continuous improvement in procedures and processes.
• Assesses team training needs, coordinates delivery of needed training and monitors the quality of training provided.
• Monitors and provides feedback to Manager on job performance, disciplinary issues and operational goals/objectives.
• Completes and maintains accurate records and reports to comply with Company and regulatory requirements.
• Approve P-Cards, Code Invoices and work with the Operations Manager on the overall financial reviews for Missouri.
• May be required to hold stand-by duty, work shifts, holidays, weekends, emergency call outs, and occasional extensive hours.
• Identifies, addresses, and reports safety and encroachment issues to their resolution and completion.
• Is responsible for the safe operation and inspection of assigned Company vehicles and equipment.
• Demonstrates support for and adheres to the Company’s values, strategies, policies and procedures and exhibits the core values of Customer Service, Safety and the Company’s Code of Conduct both as an individual contributor, team member and/or leader of others.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent have experience in the water or wastewater service or construction & maintenance field.
• Minimum certifications required Mo C Water Treatment Certificate, Mo C Wastewater Certificate, and DSIII Water Distribution Certificate. Higher certifications in water treatment and wastewater preferred.
• Requires a valid driver’s license in accordance with Company standards.
• May require CDL, if required see Driver’s Qualification policy.
• Requires working knowledge of various software applications for data entry, reference and/or retrieval tasks.
• Requires the ability to communicate with internal/external customers to obtain and/or provide explanations and/or information in a positive manner.
• Work requires entry to customer premises.
• Works indoors in an office environment and outdoors in all types of weather and may be exposed to extremes of climate and temperatures, high noise levels, rough terrain, and occasional work on ladders, roofs, attics, and under houses as well as confined spaces.
• Works as an individual contributor and/or as member of a team.
• May have residence requirement due to call-out response time.
• Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting.
• Requires the acute sense of sight and hearing (corrected or uncorrected) and strong sense of smell.
• Must be able to lift tools, equipment and materials up to and including 60 pounds.
Other Requirements:
As a Safety-Sensitive position, pre and post employment screenings, including but not limited to drug testing as outlined by the Department of Transportation (DOT), and motor vehicle record (MVR) background checks are required.
