Financial Reporting Accountant
Job Description
Summary:
Supports the timely, accurate and consistent preparation of financial statements and reports required by the company, its external auditors, the SEC, and other regulatory authorities. A ssists with the setup and maintenance of processes and procedures that properly capture, track and report financial results.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the setup, preparation and coordination of the quarterly/annual electronic production of SEC filing documents (Forms 10-Q, 10-K, etc.) including financial statements, financial statement footnotes, MD&A, and XBRL
- Prepare related earnings release tables on Form 8-K
- Maintain compliance with all internal control procedures surrounding financial reporting, including preparation of detailed documentation to support financial disclosures
- Assist with investor relations reporting, ensuring consistency with SEC filings
- Reconcile and review certain general ledger accounts
- Assists with research and documentation of changes on accounting rules and regulations, including FASB and SEC pronouncements and disclosure requirements
- Perform other accounting and reporting related projects as assigned
Qualifications: - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet tight deadlines, and adapt in a changing environment
- Detail oriented with high degree of accuracy and exactitude
- Strong organizational skills including the ability to organize and successfully complete simultaneous projects
- Effective written and oral communication skills including the ability to prepare concise and coherent financial narratives, and convey ideas on accounting issues
- Ability to identify problems and find solutions
- Ability to develop cooperation and work collaboratively with peers and other associates
- Desire to continuously learn, improve and pursue open questions to a conclusion
Supervisory Responsibilities: Education and/or Experience: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Masters in Accounting, MBA and/or CPA preferred, but not required
- Two (2) to Three (3) years public accounting experience or financial reporting preferred
- GAAP financial reporting knowledge and experience, including financial statement preparation/review
- Understanding of SEC rules and regulations including practical SEC reporting experience preferred
Computer and Software Skills: - Proficient in Excel and use of computerized financial accounting and reporting systems
- Interest and aptitude to learn new systems
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations: - CPA not required but encouraged
