Northern Star (Pogo) LLC has a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Summer 2024 Mine Geology Intern at our world-class Pogo operation in Alaska on a rotational camp schedule.

What's the role?

The Mine Geology Intern reports to the Geology Manager and the primary role includes assisting with operational and in-mine diamond drilling requirements. This includes other tasks and projects under guidelines and procedures set out by the Geology Manager, within the Geology Department.

You'll be a highly motivated individual who will display behavior consistent to our Northern Star Values of Safety, Teamwork, Accountability, Respect and Results (STARR), looking to work with the business for the long term and be an integral part in its future growth and development.

What you'll be Doing:

Under the supervision of the Geology Manager, you'll gain knowledge in safe work practices within our operation using the stoping extraction method in a narrow vein underground environment.

Our Summer Intern program aims to develop the skills and knowledge you have obtained via your studies in a practical, hands-on program. We will look to offer relevant and valuable work experience with networking opportunities with our current workforce and other students in our programs. Interns will start in May and work an 8 day on, 6 day off roster throughout the summer.

Extreme conditions, including but not limited to extreme and changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.

Employees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation. Camp facilities provide dining service, games room, exercise & weight room, sauna, and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms have a land line phone, great Wi-Fi & cable TV. Cell service is available through Wi-Fi. The Company provides a bus service to and from Fairbanks, Delta Junction and Tok, Alaska.
