Summary of Program:
St. John Vianney Academy is unique in that it is true to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church and is committed to maintaining the framework of Catholic principles and high educational standards through its Classical Curriculum model. As such, St. John Vianney Academy intends to employ highly qualified Christ centered personnel in the pursuit of such high educational standards.
Position Purpose and Nature of Work:
The Program Director role at St. John Vianney Academy is a unique educational, administrative, and leadership-oriented vocation within the Catholic community of Kern County. The Program Director is tasked with developing, growing, and maintaining a Classical Catholic Academy operated with the highest educational and virtue forming standards, while always maintaining the mission of the academy.
Job Duties and Essential Functions:
- Responsible for all academy operations.
- Curriculum development and implementation
- Encouragement of students in the spiritual life, including providing opportunities for the Eucharist, Confession, and daily prayers.
- Enrollment of Students; including Student/ Family Interviews.
- Classroom Instruction of one class until which time the academy can support the sole administrative role of the Program Director, e.g., Theology for HS Students, Montessori Preschool. To be agreed upon with Board of Directors.
- Communication internally and externally; Staff, Students, Parents, Supporters, Parishes, etc. Example - Monthly newsletter.
- Interviewing, Hiring, Training, Development, Correction and Termination of Staff as needed. Board of Directors to approve all new hires and assist in corrective actions or terminations.
- Maintaining compliance with School/Program policies, regulations, and rules as they exist now or may exist in the future.
- Attendance of and Participation in All Board Meetings unless excused. Program Director Report to be provided.
- Maintaining School Budget as agreed upon with Board of Directors to ensure fiscal solvency.
- Tuition payment tracking.
- Expense tracking and communication to Treasurer of the Board.
- Chairing of all fundraisers and building fundraising teams.
- Establishment of extracurricular activities for the students.
- Scheduling of enrichment opportunities for students and staff.
- Maintaining school calendar and communicating it to staff, parents, students, and community.
- Scheduling and conducting of at least two general information sessions per year.
- Scheduling and conducting of at least two parent training sessions per year.
- Oversight of all web page and social media information and activity to ensure information is up to date.
- Maintenance of academy facility in coordination with Christ the King Church and facilities maintenance staff.
- Responsible for the Safety of the students and faculty on campus. Shall maintain a site emergency preparedness plan.
- File and recordkeeping i.e., student files, transaction receipts, tuition statements, regulatory forms, etc.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Love of our Lord Jesus Christ, Children, the Catholic Faith, and Classical Education.
- Faithful Catholic in good standing with the Church. Faithful to the teachings of the Church.
- Role model within the community, committed to providing a Gospel witness, with a high priority of personal virtue.
- Understanding of the Catholic Classical Education model and its implementation within the classroom.
- Understanding of how the Catholic worldview permeates both curriculum and instruction.
- Minimum 7 Years of teaching and/or educational administrative experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field required.
o Master's Degree in Education or related field preferred.
- Timely and effective communication to staff, children, parents, and broader community of supporters.
- Basic understanding of financial budgets and planning processes.
- Understanding of common standards for school operations; Safety, Compliance, Recordkeeping, etc.
- Ability and willingness to engage the greater community with information about SJVA and the great work being done.
Benefits:
• Salary Range: $45,000 - $90,000, commensurate on experience and qualifications.
o Paid on a 12-month schedule, biweekly installments.
- Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance - commensurate on financial health of program
- Paid Holidays, Sick time (8 days per year), Personal Days (2 per year)
- Paid Vacation: 3 weeks, to be taken during Summer Months.
- Full Tuition Scholarship for all dependents attending St. John Vianney Academy. All other fees are at the expense of the Program Director.
