Position Description:The Assistant Director of Staff Compensation is a strategic partner within Harvard Medical School (HMS). The role is responsible for the strategic direction and programs of staff compensation at HMS. This position will continually review competitive pay practices by understanding internal and external market trends and collaborating with key stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide high level compensation consultation to business partners, department administrators, and key stakeholders
Develop staff compensation strategies, policies and processes
Perform in-depth analyses in the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of compensation programs to support business strategies and objectives
Manage compensation analysts, including hiring, orientation, and training in how to conduct internal and external equity reviews using QlikView, PayScale/Payfactors, and Minitab
Lead the annual staff salary increase and bonus program process
Continually improve processes and provide compensation updates and training to the community, including salary ranges, structure movement, and merit budget proposals
Ensure compliance with University Human Resources policies, procedures, and requirements and applicable legal regulations, including the Mass Equal Pay Act (MEPA)
May provide consultation on job classification in partnership with the Classification Analyst and the HR Business Partners
Monitor and report on market trends, legislation, regulations, and media articles to inform salary and retention measures
Participate in external surveys as requested
Design and deliver a Compensation Dashboard to senior leaders and departments
