What you’ll do:
As a Project Accountant, you’ll help execute daily tasks related to the financial aspects of programs within the organization. Your role involves overseeing budgeting, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
Typical functions include:
- Budgeting and Forecasting
- Develop, monitor, and maintain program budgets.
- Provide financial forecasts and analysis to support decision-making.
- Financial Reporting
- Prepare regular financial reports for program stakeholders.
- Communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Accounting and Bookkeeping
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for programs.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and policies.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable, process invoices in a timely fashion.
- Cost Analysis:
- Analyze costs associated with program activities.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.
- Financial Compliance:
- Ensure program financial activities comply with relevant regulations and organizational policies.
- Collaborate with auditors to facilitate audits and ensure compliance.
- Financial Planning:
- Assist in the development of financial plans for programs.
- Provide input into resource allocation and financial strategies.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with program managers, project teams, and other stakeholders.
- Provide financial guidance and support to help achieve program goals.
Successful candidates will have the following qualifications:
- Education: Completion of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Experience: 3 to 5 years' experience in accounting (program or project accounting preferred) and financial management. Experience working as a Project Control Analyst or Accountant at a Government contracting firm and familiarity with Government Accounting Standards is a plus.
- Attention to Detail : High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
- Analytical Skills : Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret financial data and trends. Experience with basic financial modeling.
- Communication : Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to convey financial information to individuals with varying levels of financial expertise.
- Time Management : Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Software Proficiency : Proficient in accounting software and financial management tools. Robust Excel skills including model creation and advanced functionality. Familiarity with systems including Google Suite, Quickbooks, and BILL is preferred.

Compensation:
- Base Salary - 70-100k based on experience, skills and qualifications.
- Ability to earn upside bonus and equity, rapid career progression.

Location:
Hybrid work arrangement (3 days in person at our headquarters in Arlington, VA and 2 days remote).
