Job description
The Divisional Director Mining – Sales & Service is responsible for all aspects of operational management, including personnel and budget, of the Sales and Service operation for Mining Equipment, that are sold directly by Liebherr USA, Co. (LUS) in the U.S. The position has executive responsibility for the Sales & Service group located in Gillette, Elko and Kearny and their appointed managers. In cooperation with other LUS executive Managers the Divisional Director Mining supports establishment and steering of company strategies and policies. Also, Liebherr Mining Equipment Newport News Co. (LME) related reporting in conjunction with the other members of the LME executive management group to MIN and Liebherr International is part of the responsibility of this position.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
- Participates in formulating and administering company policies and developing long range goals and objectives.
- Manages company business in cooperation with Managing Director and other, same level management members of Liebherr US Co. as per established business rules.
- Directs and coordinates activities of department or division for which responsibility is delegated to further attainment of goals and objectives.
- Reviews analyses of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine department or division progress toward stated goals and objectives.
- Confers with MIN EVP Sales and Marketing as well as MIN EVP Customer Service to review achievements and discuss required changes in goals or objectives resulting from current status and conditions.
- Serves as member of management committees on special studies.
- Develops sales and pricing strategy for products, services and contracts for specific areas and customers while ensuring alignment with Liebherr’s overall Mining strategy.
- Develop and maintain high level relationships to existing and potential national and global customers.
- Review risk analyses and decide on project-by-project basis viability along Liebherr’s overall Mining strategy.
- Fosters and controls the establishment of Sales and Service requirements for new product developments in United States.

- Manages the MIN division’s human resources through interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; counseling; appraising performance; recognizing and rewarding employees; and addressing and resolving issues.
- Approve and control the division’s budget, demonstrating cost consciousness.
Supervisory Duties:
- Manages Direct Reports.
- Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of Mining Division team.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Competencies
- Education and Experience: A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or in a related technical area (i.e., Mechanical Engineering or Mining Engineering) with a minimum of combined 10 years of experience in the mining equipment industry. A minimum of at least 5 years of managerial experience and at least 5 years in a Sales and/or Marketing role in the mining equipment industry.
- Possess strong and visionary leadership and excellent managerial skills, inspiring and motivating others to perform well.
- Displays excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Gives authority to work independently; sets and monitors challenging goals; and provides regular performance feedback.
- Displays strategic thinking by analyzes of markets and competition; identifies threats and opportunities; and adapts strategy to changing conditions.
- Ability to understand and analyze risk.
- Ability to understand the technology and application of mining machinery and related equipment.
- Ability to be flexible with work schedules.
- Travel domestically to customer or supplier sites and internationally up to 50% of the time.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver license and passport.
