Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:

Learning Technology and Client Services is committed to delivering responsive, high-quality, customer-oriented services, and support that fosters a productive and stable instructional, research and administrative operational environment for the students, faculty, and staff of UNCG. In support of this mission, Information Technology Services (ITS) provides the following services:

• Experience with Canvas, the UNCG campus learning management system.
• Graphic design experience using the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), or similar tools.
• Training, consultation, and direct client assistance for use of technology at UNCG.
• Participation in campus-wide initiatives to assess and meet university information technology needs.

The Learning Technology group is responsible for faculty training and campus support in the use of ITS approved software that is deployed on campus. The Learning Technology group is also responsible for research and design of new and emerging academic software applications, media production, instructional design, and classroom technology training for campus use. Position Summary:

Learning Technology and Client Services is committed to delivering responsive, high-quality, customer-oriented services, and support that fosters a productive and stable instructional, research and administrative operational environment for the students, faculty, and staff of UNCG. In support of this mission, Information Technology Services (ITS) provides the following services:

  • Consulting, implementation, management, training, and support of selected instructional, research, and business software applications, including enterprise-wide learning, research, and office use technologies.
  • Resource development for campus use.
  • Reliable internal and external ITS communication services, including web/mobile application development and support.
  • Training, consultation, and direct client assistance for use of technology at UNCG.
  • Participation in campus-wide initiatives to assess and meet university information technology needs.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and and 0 – 2 years of experience; or an equivalent amount of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience (typically 1 –3 years) providing technology and consulting support in an information technology environment, and with using a support ticketing system.
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams.
  • A proven track-record in helping support enterprise-level technology projects or services.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; the ability to explain computing concepts to non-technical staff.
  • Experience using a systematic approach to troubleshoot and resolve customer problems.
  • Experience with Instructional Design in an institution of higher-learning would be a plus.
  • Direct experience with Canvas (or equivalent Learning Management Systems), Augmented and Virtual Reality, WebEx, iClicker, and/or ShareLink (or other screen sharing technologies) would also be a plus.

Key Responsibility:

LMS Support

Essential Tasks:

  • Provides faculty and student support for Canvas, the campus learning management system.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves technical issues related to the LMS, within the defined SLAs. Escalates issues to vendor support when necessary.
  • Creates and maintains documentation, tutorials and other resources to assist faculty and students in their LMS use.
  • Stays up to date with LMS releases and changes; tests new features.
  • Assists the team with continuous improvement of processes and resources related to the LMS and platforms that integrate with the LMS.
  • Monitors the SIS (Banner) integration; ensuring that user, course and enrollment data is fed into the LMS on its set schedule.

Training

Essential Tasks:

  • Provides one-on-one and group consultation, guidance, and training to university constituents
  • Coordinates with appropriate stakeholders on most optimum method of training delivery
  • Schedules opportunities to deliver training to campus faculty.
  • Develops instructional training to be delivered to campus faculty.
  • Creates supplementary resources to support training (e.g., documentation, videos, screen-captures)

Consulting

Essential Tasks:

  • Provides second-tier customer support and consulting, project and service management for enterprise instructional technology services (i.e. Canvas, Teams, Panopto, and all ITS-approved software at UNCG).
  • Meets with faculty to determine pedagogical approach for implementing software in the classroom, based on best practices and ITS-approved software on campus.

Graphic Design and Resource Development

Essential Tasks:

  • Supports the development and creation of assets for use in communications, course development, and digital badging initiatives.
  • Provides consultations and serves as a resource to campus for web and graphic design.
  • Creates and applies campus brand/style guidelines.
  • Produce web and print layouts, interactive activities asset design, multimedia direction, and animation graphics for online, hybrid, hyflex, and face-to-face courses.
  • Designs, proposes, and delivers structure, creative concept, and visual display for academic courses, websites, and other media platforms.
