St. Mary's College of Maryland, The National Public Honors College, a public, non-sectarian, co-educational, liberal arts institution, is seeking an accomplished and innovative admission professional for the position of Executive Director of Enrollment for Student Success.  Chartered by the State of Maryland and designated as the state’s official Honors College, St. Mary’s College of Maryland (SMCM) is recognized as the premier public traditional liberal arts and sciences institution in the nation. Located on the site of Maryland’s first capital city, SMCM has a strong identity as an institution offering a small college experience comparable to that found at exceptional private colleges with commitments to access, affordability, and diversity.

The Executive Director of Enrollment for Student Success will develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive mission-informed and metric-based student success and retention program that is initiated when a student expresses their intention to enroll and through the enrollment lifecycle that delivers on institutional goals. The Executive Director will provide leadership for the Office of Student Success Services and further develop a student-centered data, assessment and goal driven culture. The Executive Director will work across the College engaging colleagues in Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, Inclusive Diversity Equity Access and Accountability, Institutional Research, Student Affairs, and other areas in the collaborative development and execution of high-quality programming that contributes to increasing the retention, persistence, and graduation rate of all students with particular attention to reducing equity gaps.

Qualifications: A Master’s degree in a related field is required, PhD preferred. Ten or more years of experience in higher education with a proven track record of delivering positive results in program development and assessment; demonstrated understanding of the metrics, milestones, and programs that lead to increased student retention, persistence, and graduation; demonstrated ability to lead, develop, motivate and manage teams to achieve set goals; ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; demonstrated commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, and access; strong attention to detail; Works closely with the Vice President for Enrollment Management in the development of an enrollment ecosystem that leads to increased interest in the College by students with the talent, ambition and potential to do the work through a highly-regarded retention and student success program; ability to work some evening and weekends; ability to lift at least 25 pounds.  Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered.  Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.

The work environment for this position is in an office, on the College campus for events, at secondary schools, colleges, and business environments for recruitment visit purposes.  Events and recruiting programs require standing for prolonged periods of time, lifting at least 25-pound boxes of recruitment materials, and walking; the office environment requires sitting; data entry, texting and telephoning prospective students, parents, etc.
