The Product & Data Engineering team is responsible for end to end development for Disney’s world-class consumer-facing products, including streaming platforms Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, and digital products & experiences across ESPN, Marvel, Disney Studios, NatGeo, and ABC News. The team drives innovation at scale for millions of consumers around the world across Apple, Android, Smart TVs, game consoles, and the web, with our platforms powering core experiences like personalization, search, messaging and data.
Responsibilities:
Java development / automated testing
maintenance and support
design/planning/mentoring
be responsible for the overall design of complex, high throughput software platforms
apply your pragmatic and shown software skills to deliver elegant solutions to business critical problems
lead cross functional development projects spanning multiple teams including platform, client and product
demonstrate your passion for technology by solving unique challenges within the industry
rely on your sense of ownership and professional pride to deliver high quality, low maintenance software
leverage strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with various technical and product collaborators
partner with tech leaders to help grow and mentor fellow engineers
feed your appetite for learning new skills and technology as part of the larger DEE organization
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
Expert understanding of the Java programming language and object-oriented programming
Self-starter with shown ability to deliver high quality software in a pragmatic fashion
Shown ability to solve challenging technical problems
Ability to learn new technology and/or complex systems
Highly motivated to mentor and help grow other engineers
A technical leader for business critical projects spanning multiple teams
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
Preferred qualifications:
7+ years of professional experience
Master's Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science
Hands on experience with Cassandra or other NoSQL DBs
Full stack / front end engineering experience
Hands on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Experience working on highly scalable real time software platform

The hiring range for this position in CT, CA, and WA is $149,300-$209,600. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.Job tags
