Position Summary:

The Retail Assistant position helps customers in encouraging, locating, and purchasing merchandise in greenhouse/nursery environment. Must be friendly, outgoing, and personable and assist customers with purchasing trees, shrubs, perennial plants, annuals, greenhouse plants, and all other store items. This is a Seasonal position, hours will fluctuate.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist customers with questions relating to trees, shrubs, and plants.
• Water, clean and maintain plants and the nursery lot area.
• Maintains proper rotation and freshness of product.
• Restock plant materials and all other store items.
• Maintains positive relationships and assists customers with plant purchases.
• Become knowledgeable with plants, trees, shrubs, and flowers.
• Assist with unloading and pricing plant shipments.
• Maintains a clean work environment through sweeping and squeegeeing floors.
• Practices and complies with all OSHA and Company safety policies and practices.
• Answer phone calls and take orders over the phone.
• Planting and Propagation during Winter Months.
• All other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Availability: Open 7 days a week so weekend availability is a must
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, squat, stoop, and twist for extended periods of time.
• Extensive Walking up to 5 miles a day in Peak Season (March - August)
• Ability to lift 5-50 lbs. frequently throughout the assigned workday.
• A positive upbeat attitude with a smile
• Ability to work well with customers and co-workers
• Schedule flexibility to include some weekdays, weekends, and evening shifts.
• Ability to work on your feet at a quick pace.
• Able to follow specific details and be self-motivated.
• Must have reliable transportation and good attendance.
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions - Rain, Heat, Wind, etc.
