Job description
Provide leadership over the WC Trading Co. ministry; a fair-trade store that supports artisans around the world. This role is responsible for effectively communicating the vision and purpose of the store while leading a team of staff and volunteers with excellence.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Create a welcoming environment for the congregation/customers and be knowledgeable of all products being offered.
- Connect with members of the congregation and recruit volunteers for appropriate roles within the ministry.
- Be knowledgeable of all basic Woodlands Church information and be prepared to share and answer questions with congregation/customers as they arise.
- Build effective schedules using staff and volunteers to present the Trading Co. excellently to the public and congregation.
- Learn, retain, and use standard operating procedures daily to ensure the space/s is open, functioning, and properly able to serve our customers.
- Have knowledge of social media platforms and be prepared to assist with marketing/promoting the space in partnership with our creative/design department.
- Complete daily tasks that ensure the space is clean, stocked, properly maintained, and prepared to receive the public.
- Lead in controlling inventory levels on key items/categories and make suggestions for new products/vendors in order to keep things new.
- Assist with any visual changes and or merchandising to keep the space/s fresh.
- Consistently review training materials, update, and retrain team as needed.
- Maintain solid relationships with current vendors and look for new opportunities.
- Complete ordering of product in partnership with accounting and train assistant manager/s on the process and data involved in making decisions.
- Review key reports for the space and use the information to improve our effectiveness and stewardship of church resources.
- Provide consistent training, development and feedback to team members using the Woodlands Church Peak Performance program.
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of retail management or related work experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree or other formal training and education preferred
- High attention to detail; strong organization/administrative abilities
- Strong written and verbal skills
- High technical skill and aptitude (databases, Office products, web & social media savvy)
- Customer Service mindset
- People/relational team building skills
- Problem solving abilities; process mindset
- Ability to effectively coordinate multiple priorities simultaneously
- Ability to adapt and anticipate in a creatively flexible environment
- Be able to process freight and lift boxes up to 40 pounds.
- Weekend hours required
