Job description
Poly-America, L.P. is currently seeking an Electrical Facilities Technician to join our maintenance department. Poly-America produces several lines of polyethylene products including high quality trash bags, construction and agricultural films.
- Performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair on equipment and related systems.
- Will be required to work on: Chillers, Air Compressors, lighting systems, pumps, cooling towers, evaporative coolers, air conditioners, air handler units, fire suppression systems and refrigeration equipment. Must have the ability to check, add, and adjust water treatment chemicals in plant water systems.
- Perform new installations including bending conduit and pulling wire. Repair or replace faulty or damaged light fixtures, outlets and fuses as directed.
- Troubleshoot/replace switches, receptacles and ballasts.
- Must be able to prepare and maintain various logs and records on work performed; request required materials, supplies and equipment.
- Will be required to make scheduled rounds daily to inspect, operate, test and adjust equipment/systems as assigned.
Must be able to:
- Read and use wiring diagrams, blueprints, shop drawings and technical manuals.
- Troubleshoot/replace switches, receptacles and ballasts.
- Be familiar with the National Electric Codes, electrical theory, and be comfortable working with high voltage three phase circuits, generators and transformers
- Use various testing devices related to the electrical and mechanical trades
- Available for shift work, some overtime and be on-call after hours on shift days.
- Work with others as well as work independently.
- Have the ability to operate a forklift.
- Use basic hand and power tools.
- Assure adherence to company safety rules, regulations and procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- At least 2 years experience installing lighting fixtures, lamps, ballasts, controls, or other items associated with lighting systems.
- Three years experience in building equipment/systems maintenance and operation which includes two years of hands-on experience with major mechanical equipment and/or electrical repairs.
- Completion of vocational training program(s) in a mechanical or electrical trade is preferred and may be substituted for one year of work experience.
