General Description Assist the Health Department in the performance of clinical duties and treatment of clients. Perform technical nursing functions. Participates as a member of the Public Health Preparedness Response Team (PHPRT); shall respond to all bio-terrorism events or large disease outbreaks and other Public Health emergencies anywhere in the state. Will be required to be "on-call" as assigned or during an event.
Examples of Work Performed Participates in all off-site, temporary, evening, weekend, and/or overnight vaccination activities as assigned
Dispenses preventive treatments/prophylaxis or vaccinations and ensure that all required documentation is complete
Follows standards and protocols related to vaccine accountability and safety
Prepares supplies and provides transport for staff and/or vaccines as related to vaccination activities as assigned
Provides patient registration assistance and participate in other vaccine activities or functions (i.e., traffic control, pre-screening, temperature checks, etc.) as assigned
Assists in the development and implementation of training and education materials to support vaccine education for providers, partners, and the general public
Participates in after-action debrief for clinics with Clinic Operations Team Lead
Provides training, feedback, and quality assurance interventions to partners and stakeholders regarding vaccination storage, handling, transport, and administration
Provides support in the evaluation, analysis and preparation of all required reporting and operations related to vaccination planning
Applies principles and practices to assess, prevent, and control diseases
Responsible for maintaining situational awareness of all upcoming vaccination activities and participating in related work to further mitigation strategies and improve vaccine throughput
Completes data entry to support vaccination and clinic data reporting and records
Performs other duties as assigned
Education and Experience One academic year from an accredited college or universityin a related field
One (1) year of experience as a medical assistant
Certificates, Licenses and Registration: Current CPR certification
Certification required as a Registered Medical Assistant
Must have a current valid Texas motor vehicle operator's license
Must be able to be insured by the County's insurance carrier
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of nursing procedures and techniques
Ability to provide patient medical care, to prepare and maintain records, and to train others
