Summary:

Responsible to research grant programs, write funding applications/proposals, and coordinate/lead the transition activities of awarded grant programs. Work closely with the Executive Director on all aspects of PEDCO's development needs, including economic development, workforce development, health development, technology development, and overall development. Primarily responsible for development of new programs, including identifying appropriate funding sources, researching organizations, writing, and submitting appropriate grant proposals. Work closely with the Executive Director to identify appropriate and prospective funding sources. Supervises Grants Department.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Research grant programs and funding opportunities, and coordinates plans with grant teams.
  2. Write and submit grant applications and proposals as outlined by the funding agencies and/or as guided by the funding agency's assign Project Manager.
  3. Conduct meetings to identify and prioritize project needs and opportunities being pursued.
  4. Maintain awareness of funding opportunities from grants.gov, AmeriCorps, Department of Defense DoD, Department of Energy DOE, National Science Foundation NSF, Economic Development Administration EDA, Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), Indian Health Service (IHS), and all other federal, state, local, and private funding organizations as needed.
  5. Provides timely advice and information on funding opportunities, requirements, and procedures; collaborates in defining and implementing project funding strategies.
  6. Maintain a relationship with contacts within funding organizations for current and future benefit.
  7. Provides supportive assistance with goals and objective reviews, budget revisions, evaluations, reporting and grant closeouts.
  8. Maintain files of submitted proposals, track award/non-award record (especially feedback for future adjustments and changes for non-funded grant submittals) and maintain files on necessary documentation for records.
  9. Assists in resolving issues and conflicts with funding agencies, as needed.
  10. Works to maintain open communication, keep others informed of projects, progress, and deadlines.
  11. Follow-up with the grant/funding agencies to enable future funding, if possible.
  12. Responsible for all aspects of applicable grant management when assigned: completion of goals & objectives, personnel hiring, procurement, budget revisions, evaluation, reporting, closeout etc.
  13. Maintain familiarity with economic development strategies.
  14. Develop and submit monthly reports to the Executive Director on progress toward and/or needs to complete tasks and address priorities.
  15. Works with Executive Director to build grants team.
  16. Other duties as assigned.

Relationships and Authority:

As assigned. New program development and planning functions. Supervises Grants Department.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

  1. Bachelor's degree in public, business, health, or degrees related to science or technology, or equivalent experience and education.
  2. Five or more years' experience in grant writing, preparation, submission, and program development.
  3. Proven successful track record securing grants from various sources.
  4. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access programs.
  5. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  6. Valid driver's license and be insurable.
  7. Successfully pass drug and alcohol testing, motor vehicle, education, character, and criminal background checks.
  8. Able and willing to travel.

Preferred:

  1. Master's degree in economics, public health, business administration, science, or technology related degrees.
  2. Project Management Certification or Certificate.
  3. Grant Writing Certification.
  4. One or more years' experience working with Native Americans or Native American organizations.
  5. Knowledge and understanding non-profits, Tribal organizations, and funding opportunities.

Preference will be given to Ponca Tribe of Nebraska members or members of a federally recognized tribe. However, all qualified individuals are eligible.
