Job Description – Principal Revenue Accountant
Summary
Archaea Energy is one of the largest renewable natural gas (“RNG”) producers in the U.S., with an industry leading RNG platform and expertise in developing, constructing, and operating RNG facilities to capture waste emissions and convert them into low carbon fuel.
Responsible for providing accounting services for the corporation and maintaining its financial records in compliance with all federal, state, local, and professional requirements by performing the following duties. The Principal Revenue Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager along with supporting the entire accounting team.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops a detailed knowledge of contracts and operations related to areas of responsibility.
- Prepares, performs or reviews various journal entries to maintain the corporation’s books.
- Develops and maintains accounting systems and procedures for the corporation by maintaining books of accounts, cash figures, and related matters.
- Reviews and/or enters appropriate data into computer system on a daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly basis including accounts receivable, accounts payable, deposits, billings and other necessary maintenance items.
- Reviews and/or reconciles the bank accounts for various companies on a monthly basis.
- Maintains the corporation’s accounting files as needed.
- Prepares and analyzes all financial reports as required to comply with internal and external reporting requirements.
- Monitors department budgets throughout the year and reports any significant deviations to management with analysis detailing the cause for the deviation and corrective actions necessary.
- Reviews and reconciles general ledger accounts assigned on a monthly basis.
- Assists in compiling year end reports in a timely manner.
- Applies knowledge of accounting principles on a regular basis.
- Consolidates joint ventures on monthly basis, as applicable.
- Review monthly intercompany elimination entries, as applicable.
- Updates monthly internal audit documentation including: AR, Prepaids, Goodwill, Intangibles, Fixed Assets, Joint Venture Activity, AP, Accrueds, Reconciliations and Revenue/Expense analysis.
- Researches and responds to accounting issues on a timely basis.
- Mentors and develops other accounting colleagues.
- Additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Experience Required
- B.S. in Accounting of Finance
- 8-10 years of prior accounting experience in the energy industry required, preferably in revenue accounting or marketing accounting
- Ability to administer Intercompany and 3 Party sales contracts
- Advanced knowledge of financial, accounting and business practices
- Advanced computer skills: Excel, PowerPoint, Word and various accounting systems, preferably ACCPAC
- Must be effective in working both independently and in a team setting
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and time management skills
- Drug test and background check required.
