Hinds Behavioral Health Services staff provide many Outpatient Mental Health services to adults and seniors.  Our Community Support Division educates individuals about community programs to help them make informed decisions, find safe housing, provide family interventions, identify problems and resolutions, assist with mental health wellness goals, and provide referrals to other agencies.

Job Summary: The Community Support Specialist functions as a case manager for an assigned caseload of adults with serious and persistent mental disorders. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, supporting, developing and/or applying the treatment/service plan and facilitating compliance. Serves as a member of the appropriate interdisciplinary treatment team. Reports to the Coordinator of Community Support Services.

Qualifications: Job Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field required; previous experience in a mental health setting preferred. A Provisional Certification through the Department of Mental Health (PCCSS) must be acquired and documentation presented to Human Resources within 90 days from the hire date, and (CCSS) must be obtained within two (2) years from the date of issuance of provisional certification. The employee must demonstrate an ability to recognize consumers’ individual needs based on medical conditions, age (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle-aged and geriatric), limitations, and planned procedures. Good communication skills are necessary. Must have a valid driver’s license in Mississippi and proof of auto insurance. This position has been determined to have an occasional or very low risk of occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
