This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite in La Jolla and remote.

DESCRIPTION

UC San Diego Health Sciences is a top-ranking, future-oriented organization. VC Health Sciences academic enterprise is comprised of the School of Medicine, the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, and the Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science. These three professional schools, with a combined operating budget of $2 billion, are responsible for fulfilling the teaching, research, and clinical missions of the University of California, San Diego. The Health Sciences Sponsored Project Pre-Award Office (HS SPPO) is responsible for reviewing and submitting approximately 2,000 proposals and/or progress reports per year to the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Under the general supervision of the Interim Director (HS SPPO), the HS SPPO Senior Grant Analyst is responsible for performing varying levels of full-scope review and complex analysis of Health Sciences pre-award research grants for the National Institutes of Health. The incumbent independently reviews proposals to ensure the proper commitment of University resources and to ensure compliance with UC, VC Health Sciences, and sponsoring agency policies and regulations. The HS SPPO Senior Grant Analyst will serve as a subject matter expert and resource to faculty and staff regarding proposal compliance, preparation, and submission and is responsible for the proposal process management. In collaboration with the Interim Director, the incumbent will develop, implement, and co-teach training curriculum for VC faculty, staff, and administrators, as well as maintain the HS SPPO Training Resource Library.

The Sponsored Projects Grant Analyst will be independently responsible for a variety of projects and communications related to HS SPPO. Under the direction of the Interim Director, the incumbent will research, analyze, approve, and provide recommendations for non-NIH Health Sciences proposals while working in conjunction with the Central Office of Contract and Grants (OCGA). In addition, this position will provide full-scope pre-award fellowship proposal services for a variety of sponsoring agencies to fellows, faculty, and staff in all HS departments and functional areas.
