Job description

Executive Director

Location: Northwoods Region: Florence, Forest, Langlade, Lincoln, Oneida, Oconto, Marinette, and Vilas.

Overview: Grow North Regional Economic Development Corporation seeks a dynamic and visionary Executive Director to lead the organization in its mission to catalyze economic development in the Northwoods Region. The Executive Director will play a pivotal role in convening stakeholders, managing operational activities, fostering entrepreneurship, building strategic partnerships, and securing funding to support the organization's growth and impact.

Position Responsibilities: 

1. Operational Management: • Oversee day-to-day operations of Grow North, including management of all active grant-funded programs. • Ensure timely submission of grant reimbursement materials, maintain grant writing submissions and timelines, and communicate program updates to the Board and stakeholders.

2. Stakeholder Engagement: • Facilitate active committee structures, providing leadership and support to foster learning and network connections leading to successful programs across the region. • Develop meeting agendas and maintain an ongoing calendar of in-person and virtual meetings.

3. Marketing and Outreach: • Maintain marketing outreach efforts, including managing monthly newsletter, website, social media presence, and press outreach. • Support entrepreneurship and innovation initiatives, particularly through the GRID platform. (GRID: Guiding Rural Innovation and Development)

4. Partnership Development: • Build and maintain relationships with other economic development organizations within the eight-county region. • Collaborate with the Grow North President and Board to develop designated and ancillary committees, programs, and services.

5. Event Coordination: • Provide coordination for events such as the Annual Membership Meeting, conferences, summits, and other public-facing events. Grow North seeks Executive Director   

6. Strategic Planning and Financial Management: • Implement operational elements of the Strategic Plan as assigned. • Promote the organization, retain existing members, recruit new members, and develop strategies to increase membership investment to match funding opportunities. • Identify long-term funding opportunities for Grow North operations, securing support from local, state, and federal sources.

Candidate Qualifications:

• Leadership experience in an economic development organization preferred.

• Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, marketing, or related field, or equivalent experience.

• Experience in volunteer/committee/Board of Directors/coalition management preferred.

• Knowledge of private and public finance, financial statement analysis, and business plan development.

• Proficiency in grant writing and familiarity with various state and federal programs.

• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, interpersonal communication, public speaking, and presentation skills.

• Valid driver’s license and adequate driving record.

• Ability to lift 35 pounds.

• Positive attitude and self-motivated.

Supervision Received : Work is performed independently with only general direction from the Grow North President and Board.

Salary Range: Commensurate with Position; $60,000-$80,000 yearly

Benefits: Flexible Benefits Package up to $20,000
