Summary

Reporting to the Director, Supply Chain Resilience & Customer Excellence, the Sr. Manager, Supplier Diversity is responsible for leading the BDX Supplier Diversity Program, inclusive of strategy, strategy implementation and program management, governance implementation, small and diverse supplier mentorship and supporting customer inquiries, RFIs, audits and reporting.

The Sr. Manager, Supplier Diversity will lead the ongoing development and implementation of the BD Supplier Diversity program. This includes the evolution of program strategy to meet short term targets and requirements while expanding and growing the program over the medium and long term. The Sr. Manager, Supplier Diversity in conjunction with Specialist, Supplier Diversity will work with Global Procurement colleagues to increase the understanding of and engagement with Supplier Diversity activities and opportunities, influencing their ways of working and providing support towards the attainment of program goals. This role will lead the procurement function to establish more equitable and inclusive procurement practices by enhancing associated processes (supplier selection, onboarding, SRM , RFX etc.), technology, and policies, and specifically work with category teams to execute Tier 1 and tier 2 diverse supplier strategies. Across BD, this role will ensure customer, investor, Board, and other stakeholder requirements and expectations related to supplier diversity are met in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively across various stakeholder teams (not limited to procurement functions), building awareness and support for the program.

This role will also drive external reporting and engagement with the BD Supplier Diversity program. The Manager, Supplier Diversity will develop strategy and reporting necessary to support BD compliance with Government small and diverse supplier requirements. In addition to government engagement, this role will maintain strategic partnerships with external supplier diversity advocacy organizations (i.e.: NMSDC , WBENC , NGLCC , etc.) identifying mutually beneficial opportunities to increase engagement with these groups and potential diverse suppliers, foster connections and increase community presence support, and regularly represent BD externally at Supplier Diversity advocacy and outreach events. This role will also engage small and diverse suppliers directly, facilitating a supplier mentorship and coaching program, supplier matchmaking events amongst other outreach opportunities.

In conjunction with Director, Supply Chain Resilience and Sr. Manager, Responsible Sourcing, this role will:

+ lead the expansion and transformation of the BD Supplier Diversity Program and strategy to have a global reach in 2-5 years. The role will also drive coordination and delivery of supplier Tier 2 reporting program to further expand impact of the program through company’s influence. The role will also develop strategy and roadmap for diverse suppliers “Path to Certification” program.

+ partner with Sales and Marketing organization to develop and disseminate strategic Customer messaging about BD’s Supplier Diversity Program and its positive impact on customer and patient communities and help make this a competitive advantage for BD.

+ partner with the Office of Inclusion and Diversity to increase internal awareness of the program and how it contributes to the overall BD’s DEI impact and ensure alignment with BD’s global Inclusion and Diversity Efforts.

The role may be asked to support the supplier diversity due diligence during M&A process.

The role will support inquiries relating to annual surveys in support of the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The role will monitor and report progress against targets and action plans to deliver targets and is responsible for maintaining accurate databases identifying diverse supplier classifications to enable accurate reporting of diversity spend, working with data analytics and TGS as needed.

The role may also support other additional projects from time to time.

+ Support customer enquiries/RFIs and external audits/reporting, Government Contract reporting, Participation in BD Programs such as NJ CEO Council, peer benchmarking and support, Customer Tier 2 programs etc.

+ Internal reporting on targets and metrics

+ Manage short term intern assignments, external supplier diversity supplier partners, contractors, and relationships with PMO / analysts as needed

Minimum Requirements:

+ Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field, Master’s Degree preferred

+ 8+ years of business experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment

+ 5+ years specific Supplier Diversity experience
