Job description
Positions Summary:
The Systems Engineer plays a critical role in our IT infrastructure and application development teams. This individual possesses deep expertise in several technical stacks. Within Microsoft, this includes Windows Server environments, Azure cloud services, Active Directory, Exchange, and Microsoft 365. With a strong foundation in both traditional and cloud-based Microsoft solutions, the Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure systems that support the organization's operational and strategic goals. Reports to VP of Technology.

- Develops and designs infrastructure solutions using Microsoft technologies, ensuring they meet business requirements and are scalable, reliable, and secure
- Leads the deployment of new systems, upgrades, and migrations, particularly focusing on Microsoft platforms such as Windows Server, Azure, and Microsoft 365
- Performs routine system maintenance tasks, including monitoring system performance, conducting software updates, and ensuring data backup and recovery processes are in place
- Implements and manages security policies and procedures, including access controls, firewalls, and data encryption, to protect organizational data and comply with regulatory standards
- Manages Azure cloud services, including virtual machines, app services, and storage accounts, optimizing cloud resources for cost, performance, and security
- Administers Active Directory and manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights to ensure secure and efficient access to network resources
- Provides advanced technical support, diagnosing and resolving complex issues across a range of Microsoft technologies
- Creates and maintains detailed documentation for system architectures, configurations, processes, and service records. Prepare reports on system performance, incident management, and improvement plans
- Works closely with Technology and other functional teams to understand requirements, communicate technical solutions, and provide guidance on best practices in Microsoft technologies
- Seeks opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation within the organization's technology landscape
- Shares knowledge and best practices and contribute to the development of a skilled and effective IT team
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Salesforce ecosystem, integration points and CRM integration
- In-depth knowledge of Windows Server and Windows desktop operating systems, including installation, configuration, and maintenance
- Comprehensive understanding of Azure services such as VMs, Azure Active Directory, Azure DevOps, and other PaaS and IaaS offerings
- Expertise in Microsoft 365 applications and services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Teams
- Solid understanding of network architectures, protocols, and security practices specific to Microsoft environments
- Deep knowledge of Active Directory setup, administration, and group policy management
- Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server, including database administration, tuning, and troubleshooting
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation to streamline administrative tasks and deployments
- Knowledge of monitoring tools and techniques for Microsoft systems, along with advanced troubleshooting skills
- In-depth knowledge of Linux Server and desktop operating systems, including installation, configuration and maintenance
- Ability to analyze complex technical issues and devise effective solutions
- Skill in managing projects, including planning, execution, and monitoring, to meet deadlines and objectives
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying technical information to non-technical stakeholders
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot issues efficiently and effectively
- Ability to work effectively in a team, collaborating with other professionals and business stakeholders
- Skill in managing one's own time and prioritizing tasks to meet the demands of the role
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and changing business requirements
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying up to date with the latest developments in technologies and best practices

Required Qualifications:
- 6+ years' experience in Systems Engineering either by degree or direct work experience
- 6+ years' experience in Microsoft Architecture
Preferred Qualifications:
- IAT Level 2 Certification (Security+, Systems Security Certified Practitioner)
- Prior military or government civilian service experience
