The Academic Advisor position within the Academic Advising, Retention, & Completion (AARC) Office provides effective academic advising and educational assistance to a variety of student populations including students transferring to TU, first-year freshmen, students who are open majors, and students who are in academic difficulty and need additional support. The Academic Advisor serves as a resource for faculty, staff, students, and families on issues relating to academic requirements and student success. 

Responsibilities and Duties

The Academic Advisor serves as part of the team working with First Year Experience students. The advisor reports to the Senior Assistant Director of the First-Year Experience and assists in managing the academic programs for freshmen students entering the university: New Student Registration and New Student Orientation. This includes managing all student information for New Student Registration; collecting, coordinating, and distributing student information for the Freshman New Student Orientation Program; compiling information from all academic departments for a Registration Manual for advisors; overseeing the publication of the annual New Student Guide for all incoming students; and providing support for the First-Year Experience Advising Program. Other responsibilities include providing appropriate and effective academic advising to a caseload of freshmen and second-year students without a declared major; providing academic advising to students and support to academic departments during the Transfer New Student Orientation Program; providing academic advising services to students on academic alert, academic warning, and academic probation; participating in professional development activities to strengthen knowledge, skills, and competencies related to academic advising; and performing other duties as assigned in support of the AARC mission, the Division of Enrollment Management, and the university.

Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.

Salary and Benefits

Targeted Hiring Range is $51,000 - $55,000 and full University benefits that include 22 days of annual leave, up to 15 holidays, personal and sick days; excellent health, life, and retirement plans; and tuition remission.
