Job description
Tiny Steps Learning Center is looking to hire an Infant Assistant Teacher. Permanent Full-Time position.
Reports to:
- Director, Group Teacher, and Head Teacher.
Basic Function:
- Responsible for assisting the Teacher to facilitate daily schedule curriculum activities for the children.
Experience:
- Prior early childhood care experience is required.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a CDA or be able to obtain certification.
- Have a high school degree or equivalent education.
- Submit various background checks including those completed through the Department of Human Services.
- Be CPR, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogen certified or obtain certification upon hire.
- Complete a Tuberculosis test and physical and provide a physician’s documentation of both.
- Be mentally and physically capable of caring for a large group of children alone in a classroom.
- Must possess a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences.
- Have an awareness of the unique needs of young children and have appropriate expectations.
- Be able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry children up to 70lbs.
- Be available for full-time employment and available to work as late as 6:00 pm.

- Ensure the safety and well-being of each child by responding to their emotional, social, and physical needs as well as their educational needs while supporting Head Teachers.
- Utilize developmentally appropriate practice and best practice methods at all times.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Including but not limited to the following:
- Greet children and parents/guardians in an enthusiastic manner each day.
- Assist children as necessary to enhance learning skills and help complete assigned projects.
- Appropriately supervise children while keeping them safe at all times.
- Assist the teacher in maintaining the climate of the classroom and implementing the educational curriculum.
- Creating and maintaining an environment that is clean, organized, and safe for everyone.
- Monitor classroom bulletin boards to update compilations of a child’s artwork (each piece of artwork should have a name, date, literacy, and multimedia).
- Assist the teacher to plan daily activities that are developmentally appropriate for young children.
- Participate in weekly scheduled team teaching meetings.
- Attend in-service training, conference, and staff meetings.
- Assist with the summaries of daily activities and provide parents/guardians with documentation.
- Be responsible for daily sheets and daily activities pertaining to eating, sleeping, and diaper changing.
- Assist children with general hygiene practices including bathroom and cleanliness needs (restroom use, diapering, hand washing).
- Maintain a professional self-image and project the values of the organization at all times.
- Maintain accurate and current attendance records and other related paperwork.
- Perform general classroom cleaning duties including sweeping the floor after meals, cleaning cots, and chairs, and wiping tables or spills as necessary.
- Maintain classroom and storage area materials in a neat, orderly manner with labels to identify their location.
- Perform assigned tasks as designated by the headteacher or director.
